You have become such an independent little boy this past month. You feel the need to do everything by yourself, without the help of mom or dad, which has been hard for me to accept. You have decided that you do not want to be cuddled before bedtime, so we decided we would try laying you down in your crib while you were wide awake, figuring that you would just cry until we came back. However, after a few short minutes, silence, and you have been putting yourself to sleep like that ever since. Every night, when you are asleep, your dad will turn to me and say, how did we get so lucky to have the most perfect little boy as our son? And I still do not have an answer for him. You are such a blessing to us, and we know we do not deserve this most perfect, precious baby boy, but we are so thankful to God to have you in our lives.
You have two teeth now. They appeared together after months of us being sure that they would come in any day. You love to chew on anything....anything! We have to watch your every move to ensure only harmless things enter your mouth. You love to chew on the string attached to your toys most of all, and of course all of my necklaces. Your favorite toys are ones that light up and include obnoxious music, which you seem to like more when someone else sings along with it. Your favorite song is still the ABC's. You light up and watch every movement of my lips when I sing that to you. Every morning, when I am getting ready for work, you have been closely observing how I brush my teeth, so now I that I have given you a tooth brush of your own, you try to closely mimic my every movement, with great success.
You have been babbling a lot lately, and just recently started saying "la la" with your tongue sticking out to the right side. Very adorable. Whenever we are in the car, you will talk and talk, with some mixed in screams of joy, and then it will suddenly get silent, signaling that you have somehow talked yourself right to sleep. You have been trying so hard to lean all the way forward in your car seat to get a better view out the side windows. It seems that you can't wait to face forward. You have to look at everything around you, and you have to figure out the source of all noises. You are very observant and love to figure out how to work everything. Once we show you how to use a toy to make a sound, you are able to do it yourself again and again, and sometimes are able to do it the first time all on your own. We taught you how to make that "Indian noise" with our hand in front of your mouth, but now you have definitely mastered that skill on your own using your own fist. You are very good at giving high fives, and you love to bang your hand on anything to see what noise it will make.
You love bath time, it is probably your favorite activity. You love your huge yellow ducky and will hold on to it practically the entire time. You also love the cups, and love filling them with water and "drinking" the water out of them. I think you learned that from me and my Eskimo Joes cups. You love it when I drink from those and always want a turn too. I think you will go straight from a bottle to a cup and skip the sippies. You usually wake up about once at night, usually around 3 am for a feeding. You eat so much!! At your sixth month checkup, you maintained your percentile in weight but your length percentile decreased from 90% to the 50%. We'll pretend like the nurse didn't measure you properly, but according to all of your new rolls, and your big belly, I wouldn't be surprised if you are just getting heavier without getting much longer.
Lately, you have been trying to jump, all the time. It doesn't matter if we are holding you, if you are sitting or if you are standing, you are always bouncing. You still like your jumperoo, a lot, but will only tolerate it for a few min at a time. You prefer to be held standing and then bounce on your own. This really seems to occur when we are getting you ready for bed. After you have had your dinner, your bath, and your last feeding, you will be rubbing your eyes so we will pick you up to put you to bed and you will start bouncing in our arms, wide awake. We are always sure that you won't go to bed very easily, but you still always do. Lately we have noticed that you are definitely becoming ALL boy. You are into everything, and are definitely a daddy's boy. You want to be by his side at all times. If he even walks past you without picking you up or playing with you, you will throw a fit. You absolutely adore him, and I know he adores you just as much. He is always so willing to help me with you in the mornings before we head off to work, helps me at night when you wake up for a feeding, changes your diapers, feeds you.....so caring and so loving. You are lucky to have such a great dad, and we are so lucky to have such an amazing, loving son. Thank you so much for being ours. Happy 7th month!!!
